Today Gavarry is one of Europe's oldest soap makers specialized in the production of high-quality soaps and cosmetics both for its many famous private-label customers who have chosen us for our extensive experience and for the products sold with our own brand. We believe that soap is a genuine cosmetic and not just a plain detergent. Soap has unique and elegant shapes to convey precious raw materials, which are increasingly derived from plants for their remarkable softening, nutritional and moisturizing properties. Then there are also our shower gels, shampoos, hair conditioners, shaving foams, body and face lotions, toothpastes and lipsticks, all produced in a separate modern cosmetic plant.
Our company has been producing soaps for more than 150 years using exclusively the ancient Marseilles technique. It consists in boiling the soap's ingredients, step by step, for 6 days and 6 nights. This process gives an extremely pure mild soap because all the impurities found in the raw materials fall to the bottom of the cauldron where these are regularly removed. The entire process is carried out at ambient pressure without any artifice that may accelerate it to the detriment of quality. The utmost attention is also devoted to the choice of the oils and fats that are processed according to Gavarry's exclusive requirements: these range from olive oils to sweet almond oils all from the Mediterranean Basin; from cocoa, palm and palm kernel oils purchased mainly in Malaysia and the Philippines to refined and deodorized tallow made in Europe.

Studies, tests and ongoing research carried out every day on the field have made it possible to develop and patent a special process for producing translucent soaps.

Our laboratories are always studying and assessing new raw materials, mostly of plant origin, to meet the needs of the most sensitive consumers and of those who are looking for pure natural products. In this perspective and with the utmost respect for all living beings, Gavarry has never carried out or ordered tests on animals for any of its raw materials or finished products.
Its great quality, together with its versatility and research, has allowed Gavarry to achieve success as a leading company in the production of private-label soaps not only in Italy. Our customers include some of the most important cosmetics companies and designers in the world.

Gavarry is the heir to two great soap-making traditions: 14th-century soap-making in Western Liguria and 19th-century soap-making in Marseilles. These two traditions and schools were never in competition and actually benefited from a long-standing and fruitful exchange of knowledge and experience. Our products delve their roots into these foundations of quality and tradition: yesterday these included mainly soaps, now they are soaps and cosmetics that are more and more natural, richer in ingredients of plant origin and more and more respectful of the environment surrounding us.

Our leading brand, L'Amande, was registered on June 17, 1884. On 2009 it  celebrates its 125th anniversary. It offers complete lines of natural cosmetics ranging from soaps to bath products and lotions distributed in the best herbalist's shops and pharmacies.
